Brief Biography
Mary Waltham was born in England receiving much of her art education there. She attended Queen Mary College, University of London. She grew up on a farm in a small village in Dorset, a rural county immortalized by Thomas Hardy's novels and poetry. Her work is rooted in those themes and reflects a powerful interest in conveying the people, and the places of the countryside.
As an artist Mary is largely self-taught but in the past four years she has attended workshops in England and the USA including Summer schools at West Dean College (England) and workshops led by Robert Gamblin and Ross Merrill, Stan Sperlak, Ty Hodanish, Steve Hall and Roy Lang.
