Susan Rizzo

srizzo@princeton.edu

Susan is primarily a figurative painter using pastel, oil or mixed media, but also does some purely abstract work and figurative sculpture. She uses the figure and surrounding atmosphere – created with thick layers of texture – to convey emotional and spiritual experiences.

She received her Associates of Fine Art from Marymount College in Arlington, Virginia. Her concentration was in painting and graphic design. She studied further for several years at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco where her concentration was illustration and graphic design.

Marriage, raising children and a full-time job at Princeton University has been her focus for the past 20 years, and it was only recently that Susan returned to her painting. Since then she has had work accepted to the Mercer County Artists juried show in 2005 and 2007, and in the Trenton City Museum’s 28th Ellarslie Open . She is a member of the new Lawrenceville Main Street Artists Network in Lawrenceville, New Jersey.
